                ignition. Be careful when exiting your car.

Step2.        Determine if anyone is injured. Do not move an injured person.

                Report any injuries.

Step4.        If another vehicle is involved, get the car’s year, make, model
- N/ j1 a; b, N& {0 H4 j( q                and license plate number; the driver’s name, address and license
! n4 h' @' q6 M* Q! L1 B; a                number; and the name of his or her insurance company. If the
                driver does not own the car, get the name of the car’s owner.
! W, ^1 o: |% r/ m& b, c' O                Write down names and addresses of other passengers or
) \0 l- ~8 L& d" m                witnesses. If you have a camera take pictures of the accident
                scene.

Step5.        The police officer will give you a copy of the collision report.

Step6.        Cooperate with the police, but do not admit guilt for the
                accident in any way. You may be required to show proof of
                insurance, but do not reveal how much coverage you have.

- d: ~8 t; O5 L# A: oStep7.        Do not accept any money the other driver may offer. By
  T- E2 r% m8 C# C, B+ E4 |; b                accepting money, you may give up your right to file a claim
; X2 z- n( E+ M+ j' v) @+ T                against the other driver, even if the damages turn out to be
! ^! n" R1 Q3 Y                more extensive than you first thought.

2 R1 D; ^# I1 p# Z/ T/ SStep8.        Do not agree to forget about a minor accident. You may see
% }6 L  n( b* o. ~                later that there were hidden damages or injuries. The other
                person may even file a lawsuit against you.
% }- q5 x$ J! L' E' k
( V; R, A8 M: v* e0 r/ {  [. H# i3 wStep9.        Write an account of what happened: time of day, weather,
                hazards, road conditions and driving speed. Draw a picture of
- p! u( x$ g$ |8 f                the site, showing stop signs, signal lights, etc. Try to measure
' K6 ?# x% x& G2 a6 O+ p1 P                skid marks and determine the point of impact. Note any damage
                already on other cars involved. If a camera is available, take
                pictures of the accident.

3 h: d, J1 \0 {+ m+ o; |# \Step10.    Report the accident to your insurance agent or insurance
3 j* T% k( ^' t4 I                company as soon as possible. Call a lawyer Bruce King, to discuss
