The rain was pouring, darkening the sky. It was inside an old, broken building, the last place Lilac saw her friend, Jon. Rain is now drowning Lilac, forcing her into the building. Bravely, Lilac stepped inside the old building. Barely able to see anything, she tried to explore the area around her. In the darkness she was only able to identify the shape of a person lying in the floor. Suddenly, a light flashed and lit up the room. Lilac screamed.

Thunder woke Lilac from her dream. Struggling up to a sitting position, Lilac thought back to that terrible night. She just couldn’t get it out of her mind. Dragging out the drawer to check the time, she gasped at the book Jon left behind. A few pages were covered in blood but you could still tell the book was fairly new. After coming over in shock, Lilac tried to ignore the book and reached for her watch, 5:49am.

Today she was going to take a 10-hour plane from England to China. Pushing the murder out of her mind, she imagined chatting with her old friends back home and telling them about the exciting adventures in England. Getting dressed and prepared for her trip, she rushed to get to the airport.

This is exciting; mom would be so surprised to see the mark of my work for the first year. Waiting in a long, check-up line, Lilac studied her watch. 8:35A.M. I thought the plane leaves at 9:00, all right.

“Hey, Lilac!” A familiar voice shook Lilac from her worries and turned to look behind. “Ann!” Lilac smiled and waved at her to come close and asked, “What are you up to?”

“Nice.” Lilac picked up her bag to move along the line up. “I guess we are on the same plane. Let’s see your ticket.” When she saw Ann looking confused, she added, “I’m going to visit my parents in GuiZhou but I’m going to Beijing first for about a week to see my cousins.”
Ann reached in to her purse and grabbed her airplane ticket. “Here it is.”
“Thanks.” Lilac compared the ticket to her own. “Ha, we’re right beside each other.” She grinned and looked at Ann.
“Exciting. 10 hours of flying with your best friend, huh?” Ann grabbed the ticket from Lilac’s hand and slipped it into her purse.
“Better get going!” Lilac turned around to face the girl at the desk and gave her the ticket. She scanned it and scanner beeped. “That should be good. You could go straight out this door and turn to your left.”
“Thanks,” Grabbing her stuff, Lilac waited for Ann and helped her carry her bag as they headed towards the plane together.

“I’m going to rest, Okay? I got up really early this morning,” Ann yawned and relaxed on the seat. “Go ahead,” Lilac answered quietly and opened a novel, putting a small pillow behind her head.

挺激烈的但说不上恐怖吧，我也喜欢推理的啦。

A black figure distracted Lilac’s eyesight. She closed her novel and tried to figure out the shadow. A boy. Wildly running around. That was kind of strange how he worried me for a second. The little boy ran to the end of the plane and pushed his way into the washroom. Something seems wrong. Lilac checked her watch. 10:02AM. She stared out and down at the city they were leaving. Stop worrying, she told herself and closed her eyes.

Drip. Lilac opened her sleepy eyes and touched a water drop that had landed on her forehead. BLOOD. Lilac jumped to her feet and touched the wet blood on the overhead storage above her seat. Still wet, all right. Better get a sample of the blood before it dries up. She stared at the overhead storage and walked out of her seat to open it up. It is drying. Reaching for a paper towel, Lilac rubbed a little of the almost dried blood. Ann’s bag was still resting peacefully on the right side, clean, as it had been when she brought it from the airport. Pulling it out so Lilac could check her one bag, she felt how strangely heavy the bag had become. Lilac opened the bag slowly. It has been exchanged. Lilac gasped as she saw a bloody knife in the bag. Turning around in surprise, she found Ann’s seat empty.
