Not sure
In big US cities, most used car dealeships, big or small, get their inventory from car auctions. Many cars being auctioned are actually in excellent conditions. They can be from police confication, bank repossession, etc. These auctions are only open to person with dealer membership. When you go (with the dealer), make sure you have a copy of white book instead of blue book. Usually it's your advantage to bid against big dealership since you are buying the car for yourself and he is trying to make additional profits from it. It is true that you can't test drive the car, but you can at least turn on the engine before bidding. For big dealerships, they don't even borther with checking upon engine. These people are pros and they are dealing with hundreds of cars every months. |
