Insurance required

( R2 U5 N( ~( @; z' X9 f# k(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor& l) c% }4 r: e- a: {
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
/ X n2 h& Z* m: s' D' v) H0 Q' g(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor) ?' e1 Y( }& `' T2 F, t
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;$ b5 J) c0 D( x6 o
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,! Y2 _1 U' |6 t% s: ^* M% T
permit another person
) u" D% a* ~/ S9 |, f(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or( h/ a# P- j9 `4 A
(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,, S- U; H) x( i
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# o5 i9 A: [$ g3 U# F: }9 [* N; U( r
(d) give or lend a financial

' B$ n* j! X4 M: l$ f& Nto a person not entitled to have that financial

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway# N* g# w+ S# ]. b- S8 e
without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of( t0 E, i( m- h
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
" w! m* J/ O$ u3 {(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is
+ h7 i# D# }) inot an insured motor vehicle.

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a; v5 t$ K1 M7 [1 e5 {
financial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the4 K, I5 D4 h$ t% s- a9 C) F
Insurance Act, u0 r0 {/ Y L7 }/ W9 _
by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy
6 A" g Q$ c. I; n; U- Eoutside Alberta.
- ?9 _* Y, f% q* z(4)) Z# }. n' v% p) m
A person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection- [- Q% E4 R$ n7 y4 S' ?
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
/ K9 U" a8 P3 F t; U4 _(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
/ D7 V+ L- T, @3 v3 q5 yand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to
) _+ r! c% {' U3 O$ Qimprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not. V/ K7 M: K+ Z
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
