; \( Q/ }( |1 m- K7 p" |Holiday time once again is upon us. That time of year when family and friends get together and celebrate the good things in our lives. A time of cheer and happiness and of realizing those things that we should be grateful for. And for some, this will be what this season brings. But in my area of work in psychiatry, I often see the other side of this coin. This time of year is also when the depression, anxiety and suicide rates are at their worst. A time when some feel the most lonely that they can possibly feel. A time of year that reminds them of the opposite, of what they don't have in their life. Of the things they are missing. Those unfulfilled emotions that are now magnified by this holiday season.
