[UA] volunteer positions available in SVCC-MLS

Two executive volunteer positions are available in SVCC-MLS (Mandarin Language School) now.

U  R' s$ G( u6 \. r& R7 E/ W+ ]5 bBased at the University of Alberta, SVCC Language Schools is a non-profit organization that has been providing the Edmonton community with language classes since 1980. As an important member of SVCC, the SVCC Mandarin Language School (MLS) now has over 15 Mandarin- native-speaking instructors and about 8 classes for all ages, and nationalities. SVCC Mandarin School offers weekly language classes in Fall, Winter, and Spring (3 semesters per year). All classes are held on the same day at the same time: ; I, `- ]# p8 Z& S( w: V2 s9 y
•        When: Saturdays 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM3 B/ L/ ?2 E$ h- D
•        Where: Classrooms in Education Building, University of Alberta (11210 87 Avenue)

        Rewarding volunteer experience. At SVCC, each volunteer plays an essential role, doing hands-on work that yields real results. Each volunteer makes a difference.
' y+ \7 ]/ u& x, L$ j+ }        Personal and professional growth. Because SVCC is completely volunteer-run, input is heard and autonomy encouraged. Managing a team or a class is a great learning and résumé-building experience for all volunteers, and there are opportunities for advancement.
  y3 R7 W5 E6 I        Recognition. SVCC holds regular events and gatherings to recognize its volunteers' contributions.
0 b1 ]* _, ]/ b) L        References. Volunteers who have been with SVCC for less than 3 semesters will be given a generic letter of reference upon request. Those who have more than 3 semester of service will be eligible for a personalized reference letter. + g! m* d5 j* s' l
        Reimbursement. Volunteers are reimbursed for all SVCC-related expenses such as transportation, photocopying, and book purchases.$ k1 Y7 N- E- z0 O1 y

1.        Responsible for day to day operation.
1 J. A- o# ~; @/ ]- f% o& F- O& o2 f6 L2.        Conduct teacher’s evaluation and giving assistance to instructors;; p( r( y  @( F' l
3.        Plan parties and arrange meetings for the whole MLS;# q) h* j' [& l6 i3 z
4.        Hold orientation class for new instructors.8 i) g2 r; p+ Z2 g. f, U

1.        Post information about MLS through poster, internet etc; # w, `& Z" R$ b! k8 E' A0 |
2.        Recruiting volunteers including instructors and executives;
- z" Y2 ?* ^% J8 g& ~; d3.        Replying email to students and others who are interested in MLS.7 ~) j. t; |6 t! _* f6 b
