megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
+ \# [1 q. a% k; A+ x* h/ K: Awithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color7 M4 W5 e" M& v$ b( B- v. [( V
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
8 S5 w) f" ~( U+ }& s4 ^in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800" C" a, l# C7 ?- F6 o% f3 G
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject1 p: w6 z- u" r& V p
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
2 e$ |# a; X, a: n. |2 G+ Z7 \was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
5 N- l5 ]4 K6 _image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was3 J7 [. p8 Q4 M* b& K
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
7 \/ ] Y) [, N* i) U. q" \convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown4 f% G" u! ~! T2 ?# s$ l0 j- Y& w
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

) P, Z- d, {: rWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
8 H3 P) t2 z( x) a# a5 G36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic! B* V% u8 y, Q6 U
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
+ `# I0 W" m$ L( U; |the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
' W& c: `( p1 j9 i0 \5 Q. {+ o% XD-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as: g5 I* o3 L2 @$ p7 i. V
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.4 o" V0 U ^9 r9 A
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor/ Q; J+ J$ G5 f0 q, |2 U
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is4 o9 P8 t% {" `
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while% z+ Q* C$ M, p/ D! u8 M
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New* b6 @( p* Y: X( ?) U, G! h6 l
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features4 K# J5 p, E( }( V# [2 O
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality/ z& k ?9 ^/ _( J
prints and video.
# ?3 u0 M& u6 fTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is) U( ^1 ?) B8 M; a
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models0 y. {: L3 g+ B
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
" f9 f, n" V3 P2 K% p3 k2 ucountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first# ^) r0 I1 ?! z: T1 d6 B2 E7 c
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
! K3 U1 o+ N! i8 e2 i( W) _6 clike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of* X) b3 U% t7 q ^7 q+ O
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
+ J/ H) m# Y, R) V+ z1 G1 |am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as Q3 w2 E0 P5 o7 V7 Z& y1 N
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse: B$ e7 Z. W f; g7 s
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
+ ]9 @+ [) f2 d* o- X' Y' Ctremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the

compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

+ A* Y( F! r' ithe high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital( @7 Q; B2 ~5 L6 g: y% f
camera that produces images with such exceptional quality and detail till. x* ^: c6 ~9 e' c
now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions& \3 s9 T- r& z" p3 H
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior6 ~+ J- L+ t. f9 w/ E( i7 D: W# |
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
6 s- V. y+ H; `0 Narchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
& t: ^ u( R4 ^3 X% Xperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
