not do any of the following:
6 q- X0 D- W0 R# y: m(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor9 O/ ^: W) K4 h2 q
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;# J) J2 X4 g, [8 X7 D
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor( k( B$ Z+ g! l# X0 \7 H
vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
6 E2 P% p) C4 G/ h7 V; f(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,$ V2 s' T4 [/ O: F( i3 K
permit another person
* t! l1 V6 k5 B- b. v' u! `(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
. C$ `5 f$ e4 S( s9 Y(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,( U* K2 `4 F; x+ [% t" ]
unless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;

responsibility card or a copy of it
( i# x% \4 ~: M/ kto a person not entitled to have that financial

If a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
9 d5 ~) a, u3 { H3 g4 f& qwithout the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of
1 k' q& S! V4 v- f6 w$ t- |the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
6 }8 Q& G: e) u. Y(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is6 W1 I' N( c% s$ ^% [, q) _
not an insured motor vehicle.9 S* K, e4 A* G* g$ B( K

If the registration of a motor vehicle is suspended under this

Subsection (1)(a) and (b) do not apply to a person to whom a
/ d% }7 O" U3 T$ \" r" ofinancial responsibility card has been issued pursuant to the" ]/ k& E ?; I3 D6 |+ o8 Z5 q
Insurance Act
2 C" p7 E( K! `7 d5 Pby an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy$ K* g# V/ H/ T# U6 d
outside Alberta.

0 `! d9 o3 f1 o: f9 ^/ ]& [$ yA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection" w* k! Q6 s# C9 _- Y3 ~
(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
X8 c8 |9 [; h% E+ M( U7 P! l(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
; ]% S# P. {0 G3 B1 cand not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to* Z( G. R2 e. r8 n1 Z* w/ i
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not
